Zimbabwe 2006

Mexico City, November 13, 2024—In just one day, we have raised $1,000 towards our goal of raising $20,000 to celebrate our 20th anniversary! Join our day 1 donors and help us bring people together through music throughout 2025!

Since we shared memories from 2005 yesterday, today, let’s go forward a year…

Memory Lane: Zimbabwe 2006

We first traveled to Zimbabwe in 2006 with a team of 3 musicians. We collaborated with Jayne During of the Kuaba Humanitarian Foundation to present music composition workshops for AIDS orphans in Epworth. At the home of renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Solomon Guramatunhu, we performed a benefit concert that raised the funds necessary to restore sight to 145 people, leading Dr. Guramatunhu to proclaim, “You form the ‘beautiful face of America’ which the world is yearning for.”

In 2025, for our 20th anniversary….we will go back to Zimbabwe! One of the musicians from our previous projects there will perform alongside local musicians in the 10th anniversary of the Pfumvudza Arts Festival, which we co-founded with the Revival Arts Trust Zimbabwe in 2015 (as part of our 10th anniversary celebrations).

To support this and all our 20th anniversary projects in 10 countries on 5 continents, please make your tax-deductible contribution today! Anyone who donates at least $2,000 will be acknowledged as the sponsor of our work in a particular country in 2025. Donations of all sizes are welcome! We will also be announcing other ways that our donors and supporters can be involved. We will use the hashtag #cih20 throughout the year.
