Since Sunday, many of you have asked me how to donate to support the safety and security of musicians in Afghanistan. The best way to do so is through the website of Afghanistan National Institute of Music, my employer from 2010 to 2014 and winner of the 2018 Polar Music Prize. This institution will ensure the welfare of the entire Afghan musical community.
While in Kabul, I trusted ANIM founder Dr. Ahmad Sarmast with my life. He remains the greatest and most extraordinary man I have met, and although my employment at ANIM technically stopped in 2014, I will be working with him for the benefit of Afghans and Afghan musical culture, in one way or another, for the rest of my life.
ANIM is the best-placed institution to help Afghan musicians and the one that can best be trusted to use your donation efficiently, transparently, and with great impact.
