Mexico City, December 7, 2024— As we close in our 20th anniversary, let’s look back at 2015…when we celebrated our 10th anniversary with the Passacaglia Project!
This project produced original compositions created alongside local musicians in the Bahamas, Egypt, Pakistan, Tunisia, Turkey, and Zimbabwe. Each one was based on the theme of four descending notes used by famous composers such as Biber and Bach. Check out recordings of the one we made with school children in the Bahamas or the beautiful celebration of African unity we created with our partners in Zimbabwe or the one developed by students at our annual music academy in Tunisia.
Continuing our journey down memory lane: in 2016, as an original follow-up, we launched “What is American culture?” In this innovative and unique project, our founder William Harvey spent one week in each of the 50 states of the USA, asking the titular question and initiating collaborative explorations, all of which may be explored still via the project’s page.
In 2025, as part of our 20th anniversary, we will do more work in the USA, including a workshop collaboration with InTempo that harkens back to our work with them in 2016. Please donate today to help us continue to bring people together through music!
