Cultures in Harmony is pleased to report that of the 326 Afghan musicians we are helping, one is now in the USA! Ms. F (name withheld to protect her family) arrived in New York City last night, where she was welcomed by Dr. Marta Bedkowska-Reilly, the professor at Nyack College School of Music who also worked tirelessly towards this achievement. This shows that our idea—finding colleges and conservatories willing to accept Afghan musicians—is a viable pathway to safety. Dr. Reilly raised additional funds beyond what CiH could provide, showing the value of a team effort.
Thank you to Dr. Reilly, to Nyack College, to the many employees of the US State Department to whom I wrote about Ms. F’s case, and to the office of United States Representative Victoria Spartz, who followed up.
We ask that you donate to Cultures in Harmony today to enable more Afghan musicians from our list of 326 to reach safety and freedom.
