In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Cultures in Harmony launched “Connecting Cultures through Counterpoint,” a platform that offers musicians, students, and audience members around the world the opportunity to forge virtual musical connections across borders and cultures. “Connect 4” videos bring together four musicians from far-flung countries to collaborate on a piece of music. 

In this first #Connect4 video, published February 24, 2021, the following musicians played “Musica Senza Confini” (Music Without Borders), a composition by Us. Nafees Ahmad:

• Pakistani sitar player Us. Nafees Ahmad is head of the music department at the National Academy of Performing Arts in Karachi. 
• South African violinist, singer, and model Keamogetswe Magau is a member of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban. She speaks English, Afrikaans, Tswana, Xhosa, and Zulu.
• Mexican violinist Fernanda Villalvazo, a graduate of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, is the founder of Péepem Art Association, which promotes cultural exchange between Mexico and Austria, and the founder of ArtisTeach, which promotes instrumental pedagogy. 
• American percussionist Steve Solook lives in Buffalo, New York, and has performed with Cultures in Harmony in Papua New Guinea, Cameroon, Egypt, and Mexico. He is the accompanist for the University at Buffalo Dance Department.
